Creative Space is this Sunday...I thought that, if the majority ruled, we could turn it into an outing to Life University's 19th Century Village.

Photo outing this Sunday! [Sep. 14th, 2007|09:42 am]

This Sunday is Creative Space. If you're not sure what that is, it's fun, I promise. We've only had one ritual sacrifice hehe. I kid. On the first and third Sunday of every month, I invite anyone over who would like to come and do something creative. You can bring sketchings, painting materials, writing, knitting, etc. Of course, the underwater basket weaving can only be accomplished by someone small as my bathtub isn't THAT big. :) CS starts at 2pm and runs until 5pm. You can show up at any time during those hours as this is not a strict gathering.

This particular Creative Space will be an outing. We'll be headed to the Confederate Cemetery in Marietta. There are plenty of shaded areas if you want to write or sketch (unless you like sitting in direct sunlight for hours, then there's plenty of that too). A few of us will be bringing our cameras. (I know some of you have *ahem* new cameras.) Hell, come on out and do some rubbings if you want. :)

The high is 81 with mostly sunny skies. It looks like it will be a lovely day.

Here are some of the shots I've gotten in the past from this particular locations:

August Photo Field Trip! [Aug. 6th, 2007|08:47 am]

After quite a fun Creative Space this week, I think we've got a load of places to visit.

I was hoping we could do one official Photo Field Trip a month at least. There are so many local places that many of us want to visit and there are also "day trip" places we'd like to go. I was thinking if we had at least one a month and planned far enough in advance, that everyone would have a chance to make it.

I therefore nominate our AUGUST PHOTO FIELD TRIP place as Life University's 19th Century Village. It's in Marietta off of HWY 41 on the Life University campus. They have preserved the village really well and it is located in a wooded area (read - shade) and the walking path is lovely. There is a stream and a wheelhouse where a picnic area is located, so if we wanted to make it a lunch affair, it would be quite simple.

We've had suggestions for months closer to fall: Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, Burt's Pumpkin Farm, The Confederate (both the "Yankee" and Confederate) Cemeteries in Marietta, and several others that I don't remember at this point in time.

Let me know what you think about this month's suggestion and maybe offer a weekend that would be good for you (DragonCon weekend, obviously, is not good for me lol).

Just an idea... [Jul. 27th, 2007|09:55 am]

Kennesaw/Marietta is filled with historical landmarks, cool cemeteries, and forgotten homes. There is a house about ten minutes from my apartment that I took pictures of last fall (before I got my new shiny camera) and I've been wanting to go back ever since.

Maybe, weather permitting and attendees permitting, those that come to Creative Space Sunday can take the drive over to this place and take some pictures.

These were from my last visit:
